Madrid

'Los Gattos' definitely will make sure you will enjoy your stay in the Spanish capital. The inhabitans of Madrid really deserve their name of 'The Cats', because just like the animals, the Madrileños like to live at night.

Of course, during summer you're going mad because of the heat during the day, so the only time you can live 'normally' is at night. On the other hand, Madrid is situated on plateau at about 700m height, which means it can be pretty cold during winters. Best way to go there is spring or autumn!

Popular because of the famous Football club 'Real Madrid', but maybe even more popular because of it's stunning architecture and majestic lanes and streets. (forget Paris!)

Madrid is really packed with musea so no excuses if you don't visit even a single one. And remind you; every first Sunday of the Month, all government musea (about 80% in Madrid) are open without entrance fee. Go early, around 9AM-10AM to avoid long queues, since tourist like to breakfast first and try to get rid of their hangover of the night before.

Talking about nightlife: Just like musea, Madrid is packed with nightclubs and bars. Some you don't even recognize since the doors are hidden next to a parking lot or supermarkt.

Enjoy sunny afternoons on Plaza Mayor, have glass of red wine and some tapas (light snacks, mainly cheese and meat).

Other areas of interest include, Puerta del Sol with Kilometro Céro (the exact center of Spain), the Gran Vía (the main street), Plaza de Cibeles with it's great fountain and neigborhoods of La Latina, Salamanca and Lavapies.

Just for a weekend break, or as starting or ending point of a Spanish trip, Madrid will really suit you!

Getting there and away: Check flights!
