About Re-ticket

General

  • What is Re-ticket.com?
Re-ticket.com is an online marketplace for tickets. Travelers, tour operators and transport companies are using this platform to sell their 'second hand' tickets. In most cases passengers offer their tickets because they are unable to travel on the selected dates of their tickets. And travel companies (such as tour operators or airline companies) offer tickets when they have seats left on various routes on certain days. We help both parties (passengers and travel agents) by offering a trade-platform to sell and purchase their tickets via a marketplace system. Re-ticket.com is a marketing platform and does not function as a travel agent or tour operator, we do not sell tickets ourselves.
  • Why do passengers offer their tickets?
Passengers offer their tickets when it turns out, for any possible reason, that they are unable to travel. Unexpected circumstances can occur such as: broken relationships, last minute exams, a new house offer, somebody got fired, sickness, and so on. Thus, their tickets becomes useless. This happens especially since a lot of people plan their trips ahead. Via Re-ticket.com they can still offer their ticket to somebody else. In most cases, people have a travel insurance which covers sickness and other medical expenses. Things like a broken relationship are not seen as a valid reason to refund your ticket. And that is where Re-ticket comes in. Statistics shows that more and more people have a travel-insurance, but no cancellation-insurance. Travel agents offer their tickets because they haven't sold their complete stock of tickets (allotment).
  • Why do tour operators & transport companies offer their tickets?
Tour operators and transport companies offer their tickets when they have seats left / their flights are not fully booked. An airline company has for example five daily flights between Amsterdam and Barcelona. A lot of flights are fully booked but sometimes the flights are not even 50% full. If the airline company flies with empty seats it will cost them money. A lot of airline companies have a yield department that exactly can see if a flight is overbooked or if a flight is not even half-full booked. Travel agents offer their tickets because they haven't sold their complete stock of tickets (allotment).
  • Are tickets transferable to somebody else?
Market research shows that about 40% of the airline-tickets are transferable. In general, passengers pay a name-change fee (for example 25 euro) and sometimes they have to pay the fare-difference. For other types of tickets, like train tickets, no names are printed on the ticket.
  • How do I change a name on a ticket?
Contact your transport company or travel agent. Normally you can change the name on the ticket by logging in on the website of the airline-company, or contact their call centre. Do NOT contact Re-ticket for name-changes, since we are not the owner of the ticket, we are not allowed to make any changes.
  • What does it cost to change a name?
Every transport company or travel agent has different changing fees concerning a name change. In general a name change fee is charged at 25 Euro, plus the fare difference. For example, if you buy a ticket on the 1st of May for 100 euro and you would like to transfer the ticket to somebody else on the 15th of May, and the price of the new ticket is 125 euro. Then you pay a name change fee plus 25 euro for the fare difference.
  • When I do not use my airline ticket, can I still get a refund?
This depends on your ticket fare conditions. Some airline companies refund 25% of your ticket if your cancel a few days before departure, others do not refund a single penny. Your ticket consist of two parts, a ticket fare, and airport taxes and surcharges. Refunding your ticket fare is not easy. But a refund for the airport taxes and surcharges can be done by via www.re-fund.com

How it works

  • Selling a ticket
First register on our website and log-in. You can simply do this with your e-mail account or with your Facebook account. After that, publish your ticket with all its details. Give it a competitive price, promote it via your social media and wait.
  • Handing the ticket over
When somebody is interested in buying your ticket, he will contact you via e-mail or simply gives you a price for what he wants to pay for your ticket. After you agreed on the price, you provide him with your bank account details or Paypal and send the ticket. If your ticket is personal, you have change the name before you send it.
  • Buying a ticket
You've been browsing through our database and found a ticket of your choice: Congrats! Simply contact the seller and agree on the price, or alternatively: give him a price in the 'bidding field' of the ticket detail page. Make sure if the seller needs to change the name on the ticket or not and pay.

Tickets

  • I was told name changes are not possible, so how can I buy a second hand one?
Almost right! Name changes are ALWAYS possible, but mainly airlines don't like that. They want you to cancel your ticket and sell the seat again to somebody else. In every reservation system, name changes are possible, they simply do not allow it. That's something else than 'not possible'. But luckily there are honest airlines which allow name changes. Individual account holders are only able to sell airline ticket from a limited number of airlines which allow name changes. Business accounts (travel agents) don't have this limitation, because the buy allotment from airlines, where they are able to make changes even on the day of departure. The majority of bus, ferry, and train tickets are not personal, and therefore more easily transerable.
  • How do I make a name change?
Simply log-in on the website of your airline/transport company and go to 'manage my account' or 'manage my ticket' and change the name of your ticket. Alternatively you call the call centre and arrange a name change by telephone.
  • My airline is not listed, what do I do?
We tried to insert all airlines in our database which allow name changes. If your airline is not listed, you are probably not allowed to make name changes. Before you contact us, first check with your airline if they allow name changes. If they do so, contact us via info [at] re-ticket.com and we will list your airline.

Request

  • How does it work?
You place a request in case there is no match with your search-action. For example: you are looking for transport between London and Paris. No second hand tickets show up, and there are no partners available with special offers. Now you can save your request in the Re-ticket.com database and suppliers (only with a business account) can reply on your request with a special offer. It’s for free and if you like the special offer, you will deal directly with the supplier. It can’t get easier!
  • What’s a business account?
Only suppliers are entitled to have a business account. With this business account they can reply on requests from travellers. To work with a business account you need to buy credits in order to reply on requests. Every time you reply on a request it will cost you a credit. It is cheaper than waiting for somebody to visit your shop or website because these travellers are really interested in something special they could not find. And if you can offer them what they need, you will have a good deal yourself as well

Accounts

  • What is de difference between an 'individual account' and a 'business account'?
The main difference are the limitations and individual account has. Although publishing tickets and requests with an individual account is free, a business accounts will get you further. Business account are specifically designed for travel agents and touroperators who have more than one single ticket to publish. They are allow to upload tickets in a 'batch', they are entitled to show their website in their account, the are allowed to respond on requests and last but not least; they get free leads from those requests. For example: when you are a travel agent with focus on Florida trips, you can checkbox 'Florida' in your settings. And every time, somebody posts a request for a holiday in Florida, you automatically receive an e-mail so you can made a tailor made offer.
  • Are individual accounts free?
Yes! Only for business accounts we charge you a tiny bit of money.
  • Oh yeah, let the business accounts pay! So, why should I even set up a business account?
See the question about the 'difference between the accounts' here above! Basically, we only charge you 15 EURO. For these 15 EURO, you get 15 credits and these credits are free to use on Re-ticket.com. Every action on the website only cost you 1 EURO and you get a free logo and display of your website. No costs, per click for leads to your account. You and nobody else decided for what you pay. Especially the automatic leads from requests will save you loads of Google Adwords money. Just check your adwords budget and keywords, you won't be charged less than 1 EURO per click. At Re-ticket we do things different. We send you the request when somebody is looking for a trip or destination which you offer. You check the request and only if it's good enough for you, you reply with a tailor made offer for this client. This action will cost you 1 EURO, only once! You won't get cheaper leads than this!
